Well, it’s come and gone – Pickin’: A Music Celebration, that is. It’s so hard to believe Chatham Arts Council’s Annual Benefit for Artists-in-Schools is over. All who gathered in mid-November at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center were in for a treat as they listened to Chatham County’s own Tommy Edwards and The Bluegrass Experience in their 47th year of music-making.
And that’s not all! Guests were “wowed” by incredibly talented musicians from Clapping Hands Farm Ukulele Kids and Chatham Central Advanced Chorus.
A huge “thank you” to Opus Financial Advisors for sponsoring the event, Carolina Brewery for delicious food, beer and wine, High Strung Violins and Guitars for their amazing petting zoo, and Clapping Hands Farm for providing an art activity to keep the young ones busy and happy.
In addition, Pickin’ would not be possible without the many community sponsors who appreciate the talented musicians and artists in Chatham County. Thank you!
Last, but not least, we must let you know how excited we were to have so many educators in the house – including Mary Clayton Liles Joliceur, who spoke eloquently about the impact of the Artists-in-Schools initiative at Virginia Cross Elementary School. What a great night and a fitting celebration of expanding Artists-in-Schools to all 10 traditional public elementary schools this year.
See ya’ll next year!
